Apple iMac 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (24-inch) was first offered in fall of 2006 and Apple touted it as the “fastest iMac ever” and emphasized the machine as a perfect marriage of professional performance and consumer convenience and versatility–especially with its adherence to the by now iconic all-in-one iMac design. The innovation of placing the processing hardware that hard previously required a capacious box or tower was introduced in this model, making this iMac an attractive buy for previous iMac owners.

With its new 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 4 MB shared L2 cache this iMac indeed clocked in an impressive 50% processing speed than the previous 20 inch iMac. The iMac 2.16 GHz with its doubled L2 cache and 667 MHz bus speed also offered 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300); NVIDIA GeForce 7300GT with 128 MB GDDR3 SDRAM; a then very generous 250 GB Serial ATA hard drive and a slot-load 8x double-layer SuperDrive. The monitor is a 24-inch widescreen TFT active-matrix LCD with 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution supporting millions of colors.
