Deal. Save over 20% off the G-Technology G-DRIVE 1TB External Hard Drive With Both USB 2.0 and Firewire 400/800

The problem with some of the cheaper external hard drives available today on sale is that in order to compete in the hard drive market, some of the features have gone away such as firewire which allows for much faster data transfer than  USB –  which can be slower than molasses.

A real live example: I like to backup my files to an external hard drive using Apple Time Machine and this great, until you have  a hard drive failure and need to restore your new internal hard drive from your usb only backup. This took me an overnight to get up and running again with my USB drive as the backup  drive.

USB is all that, and if you’re just a home computer user in the need for a cheap and quick backup drive then this G force hard drive isn’t what you want to buy, because if it takes you a few hours to transfer  lots of files, it’s not as important as you have some time.

But if you’re working with computers and time is money,  have a look at this G force drive that includes both firewire 400 and firewire 800 interfaces, for much faster file transfer times than what you would see from the cheaper USB drive.

This may not be the best external hard drive deal today due to the 1TB drive size, which at one time seemed like a lot of space, in 2011 isn’t really not that much hard drive space and you may be better with a bigger USB hard drive  if the firewire specifications mean nothing to you.

But if you do have a need for a drive with firewire interfaces that’s affordable this deal on the G Force 1TB hard drive could just be the answer to your storage needs.
